Uncle
Will's notes say
that John H. Driscoll
was the
"sixth oldest
child of Patrick
and Ellen Driscoll." Patrick
and Ellen are both
listed as being
born in County Cork,
Ireland in the 1860
census. Their son,
Cornelius, was 15
in 1860 and had
been born in Ireland.
The next son listed
is John, age 5,
who was born in
Massachusetts. The
couple must have
come to the United
States some time
between 1845 and
1855. What happened
to the other three
children is a mystery.
I haven't been able
to find Patrick
or Ellen Driscoll
in either the 1870
or 1880
census. There are many "similar"
records (Ellen Driscolls
born in Ireland
around 1830) but
for different reasons
they don't seem
to match. I've also
looked through some
death records and
can't seem to find
either of them.
