The
two sources of information
about Martin Howard
are sometimes at
odds. In the notes
in the Howard Family
Bible, which were
probably written
by Cara or Aunt
Margaret, Martin
Howard came from
Co. Longford, emigrated
to Westerly, and
died on October
30, 1900.
Those notes might
be based on information
Cara had, or they
could have been informed
by the work that Audrey
Howard of Australia
did in the late 70's.
Audrey's notes say
that Martin was the
son of Thomas and
Catherine Howard and
that he had three
brothers; Patrick,
John, and James. Those
notes have him emigrating
to Stonington, Ct.
and dying on October
31st. 1900.
There are 1881 telephone
records
that list Martin
Howard living on
Morgan Street along
with a stonecutter
named Thomas Howard.
There are four Howards
listed in the 1881
directory.
We also know that
the "collation"
after Thomas F.
Howard and Annie
Riley's wedding
was served at the
father of the groom's
house. See scan
below.
